PRESS RELEASE —  Hope everyone is staying healthy. Social distancing and washing your hands is still the way of life. Let’s see what’s been going on.

Charges now have been filed on Decorian Holmes for the shooting death of Payton Holmes. He turned himself in in Jefferson County and is now here at our jail in Newton.

We received three calls where someone was hurt while riding an ATV. Them things are fun, but you better be careful. They can be very dangerous.

We spent lots of time looking for a man with a “big gun” strapped on his back. We also got a report of him shooting when a vehicle passed him. All this took place near Bon Wier.

Had a report of someone stealing a John Deere riding lawnmower. Run across a good deal on one, give us a call.

A lady called and told us she has found a seven-year-old girl walking down the road all by herself. Before we got there the lady called back and mom had drove up. All is ok.

Received a call about a car wreck. Officers were dispatched. They had to break up a fight between the two drivers. Nobody hurt.

This week is National Police Officer week. This year you can’t hug a cop. Thank him. Remember social distancing.

Gotta go: Thought for the week. If you are still looking for that one person who will change your life, look in the mirror. Yall have a great week. If we can help, just holler. God bless.
