There is nothing quite better than delicious homestyle cooking in your hometown.

That has certainly been the case at Ten West Diner over the years.

The variety on their menu is top-notch whether or not customers are salivating over the Big Chop Steak Melt, fried shrimp Po-Boys, loaded Texas-sized spuds, grilled pork chops, the Country Platter featuring Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs or that wonderful Southwestern Salad with Steak and Chicken.

Well, it’s time for Orange Countians to get their “grub” back on for sure as Ten West Diner will be opening up again starting Monday, Apr. 6 under new owner Leslie Rider at 2650 Lutcher Drive in Orange tight off of Interstate 10.

“We’re so excited to get back up and rolling,” said Rider. “I know we will not be able to sit people down in the diner, but it’s going to be great to see some of those wonderful, smiling faces again.”

Rider has worked in the restaurant business for a large portion of her life, including 17 years off and on, going back to when Ten West Diner was once Gary’s Coffee Shop for years and years.

“I’ve pretty much grown up in the business and I just love dealing with people,” said Rider. “It’s fun to get to know people and their families. I’ve seen a lot of families go through here for years and have seen a lot of kids grow up that still come here often.”

Rider says the menu will remain the same.

“We’re not going to make any big changes at all,” said Rider. “People want that good old homestyled cooking that they are accustomed to here. We can’t wait to see people again, so many people we know, and we already know what they want to order.”

Ten West will be opening Monday for carry-out orders and the phone number to call is (409) 238-5004. Delivery service is available as well. Ten West will be offering family meals in addition to their usual menu. They will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

“We’re going to have carry-out to vehichles, plus great delivery services from outlets like Guber’s,” said Rider. “We want to make sure our older customers are took well care of, we’ll deliver it straight to your car.”

Rider wants to play a safe role as well in getting food to customers.

“We’re taking every possible precaution necessary,” said Rider. “Our staff will have gloves and masks on when we have carry-out and we will definitely be sanitizing after each delivery.”

But most of all, Rider and staff want a couple things.

“We want to make sure everyone is fed well, and most of all stay safe, we’re all in this together,” said Rider.
