Lady Bears split two in Sweeny tourney Friday

SWEENY – The LC-M Lady Bears split a pair of softball battles at the Sweeny Tournament Friday.

In their first game they defeated East Bernard 11-0.

Karson Friar got the win, scattering two hits while striking out 11. Bailey Frenzel paced the offense, going 4-for-4, including a home run blast.

The Lady Bears fell to host Sweeny 7-6 in their second game after they trailed 7-0 in the fifth.

Friar came in for relief and struck out six and allowed one hit and no runs.

In the fifth, Lakin Adkins led off with a triple and Olivia Leavings drew a walk.

Madeline Stephenson laced a RBI single. Frenzel followed with a line drive off the centerfield fence and then Megan Peveto blasted a three-run home run bomb. Carly Cogar brought in the last LC-M run with a double.
