Salvation Army continues giving back to the community by hosting a Volunteer Reception on Thursday night for those who have volunteered throughout the year to help the organization.

Without volunteers helping throughout the year, the organization would not be able to accomplish as much as it does each year from working in the food bank, helping with homework, or ringing the bell during the holidays to help raise more funds.

Orange County Disaster Rebuild, also a non-profit, volunteered to Ring the Bell for Salvation Army and in one day raised the most funds with $1,200. Stacey Nichols, James Scales, Morgan Taylor, Lori Nash, Michelle Tubbleville and Angie and Gary Locke were presented the Bell Award for their efforts.

“Share your story,” Captain Jan Zuniga said. “Tell others how volunteering has impacted your life.”

Each person was asked to tell their story during the reception. Videos of the stories will be circulated through the area at a future date.

Salvation Army provides such services as:

• Community Food Pantry open from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. Monday – Thursday
• Rental assistance to prevent evictions (when funds are available)
• Utility Assistance (when funds are available)
• Clothing and Furniture Assistance Vouchers (when funds are available)
• Family Store
• Boys and Girls Club Afterschool program
• Boys and Girls Club Summer Day Camp Program
• Emergency Disaster Services
• Angel Tree Christmas Program
• Sunday Church Services
