Bears cruise past Mustangs at The Grove

LITTLE CYPRESS – The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears nabbed an important and dominating 63-41 District 22-4A victory over their rival West Orange-Stark Mustangs at The Grove Tuesday night.

Jesse Doucette had the hot hand for the Bears (16-15, 5-5) as he poured in 22 points.

Ben Elliott tallied 13 points for the Bears while Jackson Smith contributed 12.

The Bears, who are tied for third-place with Lumberton, will visit Silsbee Friday while the Mustangs (13-20, 2-8) visit Lumberton.

In other 22-4A action Tuesday, Hardin-Jefferson (25-9, 10-1) moved to first-place all alone by defeating Silsbee (17-13, 8-2) 69-66 while the Lumberton Raiders (22-10, 5-5) hammered Bridge City (12-20, 2-9) 60-38. Hamshire-Fannett (21-11, 4-6) had the night off.
