Newton County Sheriff’s Report 2.10.20

PRESS RELEASE — Went to another Deputy Sheriff’s funeral Saturday. He was shot several months ago and passed away last week. That’s two Deputy Sheriff’s funerals I’ve been to in two months. Please pray for all Police Officers.

We worked most of last week on a crime spree here in Newton County and S.W. Louisiana. We are looking for Michael Patrick Griffin. Several agencies have felony warrants on him. If you know where he might be, please give us a call. We need this thug.

First time call, Mother-in-law assaulting Son-in-law. He advised she wouldn’t leave his property. Most of these type calls are Father-in-law assaulting Son-in-law. Settled by separation.

There was a very bad 2 vehicle accident on FM1416 in the Bon Wier area. A young man lost his life. Please remember the Mitchell family in your prayers.

We’re having lots of complaints about people drinking and driving. There is no way I can tell you how dangerous that is. Not to mention how much money a DWI costs. From start to finish, it’s about $10,000. Be smart, don’t drink and drive. Jail ain’t fun!

Gotta go. Thought for the week: I’m so busy I don’t know whether I found a rope or lost my horse. Ya’ll have a good week and if we can help, just holler. God Bless.
