Elijah Davis and Michael Oliver deliver appliances from Harry’s Appliance store in Orange.

Lately, they have been very busy.

“We do at least 30 appliances a week for Orange County Disaster Rebuild,” said Harry Stephens owner of Harry’s Appliance.

Orange County Disaster Rebuild is hard at work two years after the event, which put them to work.

“We have 50 caseworkers who are actively processing applications.  They act as case managers taking the information, visiting with the applicants and taking the steps to ensure there is no duplication of services,” said Michelle Tubbleville, Orange County Disaster Rebuild Manager.

Caseworkers are professionals who work with the Society of Saint Vincent DePaul or Catholic Charities USA, national organizations dedicated to helping those in need.

“There are 100 people in the area this week helping to rebuild Orange County.  Over the next couple of weeks more crews are coming in to help,” said Tubbleville.

The plan is to stay the course until all the unmet needs in Orange County are fulfilled.

To volunteer call 409-745-9719 or to submit an application for an unmet need call 211.  Tax-deductible donations are also welcome and will be used to support the rebuilding effort in Orange.
