An AT&T contractor boring under Strickland at Martin in Pinehurst struck a water main at approximately 4 p.m. Thursday.
“The contractor was boring under the road to a substation further down the street when they hit a water main,” Public Works Director Jeff Toney said.
Pinehurst Public Works employees are currently determining how deep the main is and if it is a six or eight –inch main.
“We are unsure at this time how long it will take to repair,” Toney said. “It could take a couple to three hours.”
