Special to the Leader
The new official app of Orange County, A Slice of Orange County Tx, is now available as a free download on Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.
The new mobile solution, which also includes a responsive website, was launched by the Greater Orange Chamber of Commerce to provide a comprehensive community resource for everything in Orange County.
Designed to be utilized by residents, businesses, visitors and those looking to relocate to the Orange area, A Slice of Orange County TX engages users with multimedia business listings, social media integration, local news, weather, events, and interactive features.
The Greater Orange Chamber of Commerce spearheaded the project to support the local economy and other local businesses as a way to connect with consumers.
It features a wealth of local business information encompassing professional services, shopping, dining, lodging, attractions, real estate, auto care, health services and more.
The mobile app is a unique project for the chamber since it is not just a chamber app, but an app for the entire community. As the first complete community resource of its kind, A Slice of Orange County TX combines exclusive content and features from a diverse array of community partners.
The City of Orange, Orange County, Orange TX CVB, Orange County Economic Development Corporation, the Stark Foundation, and Lamar State College-Orange are all utilizing the app to connect with the community on mobile.
Orange County is utilizing the app to provide residents with a quick and effective way to connect with important county information. The app features a directory of county departments, links to the Office of Emergency Management and information about the commissioners’ court, including court agendas and minutes. It also provides residents with information at their fingertips about county job opportunities, how to register vehicles, apply for a marriage license, get a birth or death certificate, get building permits, and the ability to report road damage or drainage problems.
The City of Orange is offering similar functionality designed to connect residents with important city services. The City of Orange segment features information about the city council including meetings, minutes, agendas, and links to watch videos of city council meetings. A fully interactive directory of city departments, links to bill pay services, and a “News Flash” feed for important city announcements are also included.
Supporting Orange County economic development and a strong business climate is an important goal of the app as well, and the Orange County Economic Development Corporation is utilizing it to provide access to business resources and information about incentives, infrastructure, and available business sites.
