The Orange Leader

A new principal is at the helm at West Orange-Stark Middle School, but he is a recognizable face, former West Orange – Stark (WO-S) High School Assistant Principal Broderick McGrew.

A former high school, college, and pro-football player, McGrew has found his niche behind the principal’s desk.

Former WO-S Middle School Principal Sherry Hardin, retired to move to Alaska with her husband to teach Native Americans in a missionary setting.

McGrew is a former pro-football player with the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs, where he played Wide Receiver.

The Hearne, Texas, native is a graduate of University of North Texas with a BS in Technology Education, with a MEd in Educational Leadership Administration.

Brelia Wallace, a West Orange Cove Consolidated Independent School District (WOCCISD) bus aide, was presented a certificate of recognition at the June WOCCISD School Board meeting by Heather Knox, executive director of student services, and Dr. Rickie Harris, superintendent, for saving a young student’s life by administering CPR several times, as the student was going in-and-out-of consciousness in the front yard beside a highly-concerned mother as the bus moved into close proximity.

Reportedly, Wallace asked the bus driver to stop so Wallace could render assistance on May 25.  A young life was saved, as a result.
