Man killed in Vidor shooting

VIDOR – A man called police after shooting another man Tuesday evening.

Vidor Police Department were dispatched to the 100 block of Alamo in reference to a call of shots fired at approximately 10:32 p.m. yesterday.

The caller stated he approached a disturbance in the roadway and a male charged at him and he shot the male.

Officers quickly arrived on-scene and secured the area, according to a press release.

The victim, Jason McLain, 47, of Vidor, was declared deceased on scene by Acadian Ambulance Service medics.

During the investigation, it was learned that McLain was in an argument with a female.

The caller approached the two individuals and McLain charged at the caller who shot the individual, according to a press release from the Vidor Police Department.

The individual with the firearm is cooperating with investigators.

At this time, no arrest has been made. This incident is still under investigation.
