LITTLE CYPRESS — Although both the Beaumont Central boys and girls dominated the Battlin’ Bear Relays there were still some solid performances from area tracksters at the meet Thursday at LC-M High School.

LC-M’s Eli Peveto ran a season-best and Southeast Texas best in the boys 1,600 meters as he ran his home track in a swift four minutes and 29.53 seconds. He toppled his season-best, which was a 4:29.55.

Orangefield’s Madison Helm, who leads the SE Texas area in both the 3,200 and 1,600 had another solid day in winning both Thursday. She won the 3,200 meters in 12:27.79 and the 1,600 meters in 5:42.65.

LC-M’s Rayce Piper claimed the boys 800 meters in 2:04.95 while West Orange-Stark’s Chaka Watson took the 300-meter hurdles by nearly two seconds, running a solid 41.69.

The District 22-4A Track & Field Championships will be held next Monday and Thursday at WO-S High School.
