BRIDGEG CITY — At their Monday meeting, the Bridge City Board of Adjustment members approved a request from Roger Howell and Don Olson to operate a recreational vehicle park to be located off Texas Avenue and Crumpler Street, behind Remax, Econo Lodge and Doc’s Liquor store.

The planning and zoning commission approved the preliminary plans and site on January 29, 2018 and had forwarded their findings to the Board of Adjustment for final approval.

Prior to the vote by the board, Don Huebner, neighbor of the proposed site expressed concerns over property values and possibly having his driveway negatively impacted by the RV Park. Huebner examined the site map and spoke with board members regarding his concerns.

Huebner ultimately was satisfied with clarification he received and assurances given and the motion to approve passed unanimously.

In other business, Don and Lora Huebner’s request for renewal of a variance was approved for another year. The variance allows Ms. Huebner to reside in a travel trailer on their property due to Ms. Huebner’s medical condition precluding her from climbing stairs into the residence.

Mark Dunn was given permission to place a double-faced LED Digital message board at 230 Texas Avenue as long as he meets certain city requirements.

City Manager Jerry Jones said, “So far everything Mr. Dunn is doing is ok. If he doesn’t meet the city stipulations for the sign, the sign will have to come down.”

To remain compliant Dunn will have to include on his sign a “Welcome” message for the City of Bridge City, provide free promotion of local non-profit organizations, and make the sign available to the city in emergency situations.
