Thanks to our readers!  The response lately has been overwhelming.  I have been so inundated with responses I can’t get them all in my column.  The conclusion is inescapable:  Family history (genealogy) and local history is alive and well.  Don’t ever forget Tip O’Neil’s famous comment (although said in a political vein):  All politics finally is local.  All family history and history finally is too!

Query from the Author:  The author is doing research on “Where Did the Houses Go,”for a speech he will deliver to the Camden Sawmill Reunion on Saturday on April 21, 2018 in Camden, Texas.  The speech will attempt to detail who lived in the houses before they were moved, who bought them when they were sold by the W. T. Save the Date!  (1) Linda Reynolds will discuss “Voices from Small Places,” when she speaks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 to the Angelina County Genealogical Society in the Community Meeting Room of Kurth Memorial Library on 702 South Raguet Street in Lufkin, Texas (75904).  Linda, a Certified Archivist, serves as the Director of the East Texas Research Center on the second floor of the Ralph W. Steen Library on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas.  The grant she and Kelley Snowden are working on targets preserving the history and community of communities in East Texas with 100 or less population.

(2)The Timpson Area Genealogical and Historical Society (TAGHS) will meet March 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Timpson Public Library in downtown Timpson (75975) on 520 Austin Street.  Linda Reynolds, director of the East Texas Research Center at Stephen F. From a childhood baby book Thanks so much to Lufkin native Joe Burch III for sending me some pictures of some books his mother Jeffie (Cunningham) Burch wrote about some birthday parties when he was a boy.  My mother and his mother met circa 1936, when my mother and father lived across from Rev. Emma Irick on Shepherd Street and his parents lived on Montrose Street.

My brother Don was born September 19, 1933, and Joe was born in 1936. [Insert photos from attachments here]
