Psalm 27: 5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. 6 And now shall mine head be lifted up…

Many of my favorite verses are found in this chapter. King David pens this beautiful passage revealing the willingness of God to move on our behalf. In times when trouble is never far, David reminds us that God is a hiding place for His people. Sometimes the best we can respond is simply finding ourselves hid in His presence, in prayer, and in praise.

However, today as I read that passage the latter part of this scripture and beginning of verse 6 stand out to me most: “He shall set me upon a rock, and now shall my head be lifted up.”

As we walk in life we’re sure to make some enemies, lose some friends, and make a few more enemies. I feel sometimes we are overly concerned with enemies and haters, and those who decide to reject us.

As I read that scripture I get a greater visual, a higher visual. David doesn’t suggest that the lifting is his own doing, but rather that God had set him upon a ROCK. We must remember we are always being watched, even by our enemies; and when the opportunity arises we should teach even our enemies with our responses.

Instead of being overly concerned, just stand on the Rock. Stand in the higher place and refuse to come down.

Handle your storms, enemies, and troubles from the rock, from the higher place. Trust that the place that God has placed you in is secure. Trust that God will not allow weapons formed against you to prosper. Trust that you will not be moved even if a host comes against you, or wars rise.

David states that God set him on the rock and that is why his head was lifted; don’t do the lifting, let God do the lifting. Our goal is to walk humbly and peacefully with all men, but in the time of trouble God hides us in a secret place and God lifts us by placing us on higher ground.

Let God increase your capacity and give you strength to handle the hard stuff without going low. Stay on the Rock! You love and let God lift. Blessings!
