Lady Tigers use big 2nd quarter to down Lady Cats

SILSBEE — Using a big 17-4 spurt in the second quarter, the Silsbee Lady Tigers clinched the District 22-4A title with a 67-53 win over the second-place Orangefield Lady Bobcats at Tiger Gym Tuesday night.

The Lady Bobcats (6-2 in district), was up on the Lady Tigers (8-0 in district) 17-10 after the first quarter, but the Lady Tigers exploded in the second to grab a 28-21 halftime edge.

Silsbee led 49-34 after three quarters with a 21-13 run in the third.

Faith Fregia continues to have the hot hand for the Lady Bobcats as she filtered in 24 points and added three assists, two rebounds and two steals.

Emmi Lummus contributed 13 points, five rebounds and four steals. Jacey Bourque added seven points and three boards while Natalee Smith had eight rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats can clinch the second-place playoff berth if they defeat third-place LC-M at home Friday.
