PRESS RELEASE— On October 17th, human remains were located in a wooded area behind an old shopping center located in the 2600 block of MacArthur Drive in Pinehurst.

It has been confirmed that the remains are that of 22 year old Nathaniel Allen Anderson who had been reported missing in early June of 2017.

After an exhaustive investigation into Anderson’s whereabouts, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received information that led them to the general area of 2600 MacArthur, where the remains were eventually uncovered. The Sheriff’s office was assisted by the Pinehurst Police Department, the Texas Rangers, the Jefferson County Regional Crime Lab, and the Sam Houston State University Anthropology Department and staff.

The remains, which were mostly skeletal, were found on October 17, 2017 in a shallow grave and excavated over a 2 day period. The remains were examined by the SHSU Anthropology staff and were identified as Anderson’s by a forensic odonatologist.

Anderson had been living in Orange when he was reported missing. Orange County Detectives have questioned several persons of interest and continue to investigate the events surrounding the death of Anderson.
