UPDATE:

At approximately 5:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) received a report of a one vehicle crash on Highway 105, near Reines Road, in Jefferson County.  The crash occurred in the Bevil Oaks Community.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on SH 105.  For an unknown reason, the driver veered across the eastbound traffic lanes and off the roadway.  The vehicle struck several utility poles before coming to rest.

The driver, a 19-year-old male from Beaumont, was unresponsive and CPR was initiated by responding law enforcement officers at the crash scene.  Officers continued CPR until medical personnel arrived on scene. The driver was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital.  He was resuscitated at the hospital and rushed into emergency surgery.  At this time, his condition is unknown.  The male driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The passenger, 18-year-old Brooke Dorsey of Beaumont, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with minor injuries.

Since the driver was resuscitated, this crash is not currently listed as a fatal crash.

All eastbound and westbound traffic lanes have reopened.

All information is preliminary and this crash remains under investigation.

TxDOT issued a press release stating “SH105 near Reines Road is currently closed in both direction due to an accident. Please use an alternate route.”
