OCP plans to rebuild theater

Everything was lost in the local community theater building Orange Community Players (OCP), including scripts, props, costumes, furniture, stage, sound system, piano, music, and stage curtains, plus even more, thanks to the ravaging, rising waters of Tropical Storm Harvey.
The group stays positive, though, and never wavers from its dedication to continue to provide entertainment for the community.
“OCP is rebuilding, and we will be back,” OCP President Paul Burch said.
The group has been a fine arts staple for 60 plus years in Orange, located on Division Street in downtown next to The Farmer’s Mercantile Store.
“We will return for the 2018-19 season, headlining the same shows we had planned for the 2017-18 season,” Burch said.
All tickets and ads purchased for the 2017-18 season will be honored in the 2018-19 season.
“Persons chosen for this season’s parts will be given the chance to return to their roles if they wish, and they are still living within a reasonable distance,” Burch said.
As many in the theater say, “the show must go on!”
It is a fact that the OCP will continue.
Fund raisers are being planned, but donations are graciously accepted, and are tax deductible, as the OCP is a non-profit organization.
