Orange mourns Ansley

A man described as one of a kind passed away in August in Garland, Texas.
Rex Earl Ansley was known by many as a teacher, coach and principal in Orange.
For Gary Hardesty, Ansley was like family.
“My parents treated him like a son and the feeling was reciprocal,” Hardesty said. “He was my Best Man.”
Ansley, 84, passed away on August 24, 2017. He was the son of Lucille Ansley Martin and George R. Ansley. Recently of Athens, Texas, he lived most of his life in Orange, Tx. Rex enjoyed life as a teacher, coach and principal in Orange. After retirement Rex spent his time as a Tennis Pro winning many tournaments from Florida to Texas.
After an active life, Rex suffered a short illness followed by a peaceful passing.
Surviving Rex are his nieces Karen Anderson of Athens, Dee Taylor of Bastrop, Charlotte Tucker of Garland, and nephew Roy Martin of Garland. A family Memorial Service will be held in Garland, Texas, according to his obituary published in the Athens Daily Review.
