Special to The Leader

Members of Orange VFW Post 2775 and Auxiliary presented two flag programs to Orange Campfire on Tuesday.

The first video, complete with cartoon characters, was written and shown by John Clark for very young children.  It explained how the flag came about.

The second video, “The Flag, It’s History and Evolution”, was a pictorial version of the flag, when states joined the union and their State Capitols.

Both videos began with Johnny Cash’s ‘Ragged Old Flag’.

Post member George Jones and auxiliary members Gail Duhon and Jeanette Clark handed out flags, the Buddy Poppy poem “In Flander’s Field” along with a Buddy Poppy to 19 youth and five teenage volunteers.

A banner flag was presented to Campfire along with Flag Etiquette Pamphlets.

The educational flag programs are offered to any service group, schools or youth groups by contacting John Clark at 409-883-0264.
