On Tuesday, July 11, the Southeast Texas Food Bank will collaborate with the Houston Food Bank to distribute boxes of senior-friendly food items at no cost to low-income senior residents at several sites around Orange in July.

This event kicks off preparations for an ongoing distribution of boxes of food to low-income seniors that the Southeast Texas Food Bank will begin operation in the region.

Seniors who are 60 years old or older and earning less than 130 percent of the poverty level index for their household size can qualify to receive these food boxes at no cost.

Thorse thinking they may qualify for this benefit are asked to bring proof of income and picture ID to any of three sites on Tuesday, July 11 to receiver a free food box and to enroll themselves for future food box distributions that the Southeast Texas Food Bank will begin conducting for seniors each month in Orange and surrounding communities.

The host sites and times of distribution and enrollment will be as follows:

10 a.m.-11 a.m.: Heritage Center of Orange, 100 College Street, Orange, TX

11 a.m.-noon: Orange Christian Services, 2518 W. Park Ave., Orange, TX

1 p.m.-2 p.m.: Optimist Senior Village, 3650 Optimist Way, Orange, TX.
