Church’s Chicken #0218, located at 1322 16^th Street in Orange, received a health score of 79 out of a possible 100 during a recent inspection. The restaurant received demerits for foods found uncovered and laying directly on top of a box inside the reach-in freezer, the ice dispenser and drink station in need of being cleaned, out of date foods found in the reach-in cooler and mice feces found throughout. The health code inspector noted the score does not reflect the condition of the store.

Hushpuppy’s Seafood, located at 1202 North Main Street in Vidor, received a health score of 80 out of a possible 100 during a recent health code inspection. Demerits included cooked rice at improper temperatures and an air conditioning unit dripping water into the counter next to gumbo and cooked rice. The health report noted the manager moved all foods off the counter. Other demerits included no water or paper towels at the handwashing station, several flies and gnats throughout the restaurant, foods stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer and several areas in need of being cleaned of old foods. The health report noted all broken and or unused equipment outside needs to be discarded and follow-up inspections are required at the location.
