Special to The Leader

Brett Simspon has the only sign with his name on it where he works every day!

Talk about “VIP” people, Brett Simpson has his own parking spot at the Orange Court House.

Meet a very interesting young man. Brett has been blind since the age of 4. He graduated for Port Neches in 2006 and attended regular classes with the other children. He has been involved with the youth group at his church and participates in many activities.

Eight years back, in 2009, the opportunity of having his own business came about and today he runs “Brett’s Place” at the Orange County Courthouse in Orange.

He spent two years in Austin at the School for the Blind and believe the Futures Planning experience with David Wiley’s Leadership, as the Deaf/Blind Outreach Transition Specialist, gave the vision that Brett could do something he loved and have a happy productive life.

Brett has a great attitude and loves to be around people.

One of his interest is music. He as a youth attended all the activities, including dances.

His parents, Guy and Jo Ann Priddy are very proud of Brett on his accomplishments. He received several awards:

Texas Lions Camp – Best Camper Award 2002

Diocese of Beaumont – Joan Letulle Courageous Heart Award 2005

Deaf-Blind Multihandicapped Assoc. of Texas (DBMAT) – Christian Knapp Great Motivator Award 2011

Texas Interagency Task Force on Deafblindness Certificate of Achievement 2012
