ORANGEFIELD — Orangefield High School hired two new coaches at the School Board Meeting Monday night.

Jake McDonald, who was an assistant coach at Bridge City, has been hired as the boys new basketball coach.  He will take over for Sunny Hardy who left after one season.   This will be McDonald’s first head coaching job.

Athletic Director Josh Smalley said, “We are excited to have Jake become a part of the Bobcat family.  Jake has head coaching experience and has playoff experience as an assistant coach. He is going to bring a great work ethic to the program and his passion for basketball is going to be something our kids will embrace and want to be a part of.”

Orangefield also hired Sarah Ragsdale, who is also coming over from Bridge City where she spent one season as assistant softball coach.  She will be an assistant softball coach at Orangefield with her sister Rebekah.

Smalley said, “We are also excited to bring Sarah Ragsdale into the Bobcat family. She will coach JH volleyball and will help her sister, Bek, with the softball program. Sarah’s college playing experience and the experience she gained coaching this year will be a tremendous asset to our softball program.”
