WEST ORANGE — Council Member Dale Dardeau made the motion that services of Sandersen and Sheffer who had been handling the city’s audit for 2016 be terminated during the Monday evening city council meeting.

Dardeau said he felt the city had been very patient but has received absolutely nothing and believes it’s time to move on.

Council member Theresa Van meter and Police Chief Mike Stelly was given the authority to choose another auditor to complete the 2016 FYI audit in a timely fashion.

Mayor Roy McDonald, Carl Thibadeaux and Francis Lopez received certificates of appreciation for the dedication and service in their two years term as aldermans on the council.  McDonald, Thibodeaux and Lopez was then sworn back in by City attorney Rex Peveto for another two years as elected members of the city council.

Certificates of appreciation were also given to the West Orange animal shelter volunteers Debbie Schlicher, Traci James, Georgia Robertson and Shauna Seaton for their tireless work and dedication in fostering and finding homes for over 300 abandoned dogs and cats. James and Schlicher were present at the council meeting to receive the award.
