Special to The Leader

Orange Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary Post 2775 will have their Installation of Officers on May 22nd at 7pm at the VFW Hall on Highway 87 North.  New Officers will take their positions beginning June 19th, following State Convention.

May 26th & 27th post and auxiliary members will be at a number of area stores as they once again have their Annual Buddy Poppy Campaign.  Buddy Poppies are freely given to anyone who wishes to wear one to honor our veterans and their families who sacrifice so much for our freedom.  All monies donated are placed in the relief funds for local use in assisting veterans, their families; the annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Scholarship Contests; Donations to groups such as Southeast Texas Veterans Service Group, who preside over Military Funerals and Patriotic Functions throughout the Golden Triangle and Hospice who often tend to the final days of ill veterans and so much more.    The post and auxiliary members work diligently to protect and preserve the promises made to our veterans at the time they enlist.   The Buddy Poppy Motto, “HONOR THE DEAD BY HELPING THE LIVING”, says it all.
