Granger gets Conservation Award

The “Area IV Conservation Awards Banquet” was held on Thursday, May 4 in Jacksonville, Texas. Ed Granger of Orangefield received an award from Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board member, Jerry Nichols of Nacogdoches (SWCD #401). Granger was named Runner-up for Conservation Rancher of the Year for Area IV.

Texas Soil & Water Conservation Districts cover 38 Soil & Water Conservation Districts in East Texas from the Red River to the Gulf of Mexico.  The Lower Sabine-Neches Soil & Water Conservation District #446 covers all of Orange County and was recognized as Runner-up as the Outstanding Conservation District in Area IV.

Attending and representing District #446 were Dale Parish (Zone 5 Director and Vice Chairman) and Marie “Mel” Moreau, newly appointed Field Technician for the Lower Sabine-Neches Soil and Water Conservation District #446.

Barbara Winfree is the Chairperson of Lower Sabine SWCD.
