On your mark…..

More hearty congratulations to our Golden Triangle tracksters for their strong showing at last weekend’s 106th UIL state track and field championships.

Nine of the 34 prep track events (6 boys and 3 girls events) produced the season’s fastest times or the longest distances.

Special recognition goes out to the boys teams from Port Arthur Memorial and Silsbee. The Titans placed second in the 5A team standings while the Titans finished third in 4A.

Here come the medals …..

GOLD

We have gold medal winners from Port Arthur Memorial boys teams – DeAndre Angelle, Ireon Brown, Xavier Hull, and Kary Vincent, Jr. — in the 400- and 800-meter relay as well as Kary Vincent, Jr., an individual gold medalist in the 200-meter dash at Friday’s 5A track events, and Kalon Barnes, a gold medalist in the 100- and 200-meter dash at Saturday’s 4A events.

SILVER

Beaumont West Brook sprinter Jeffery Hulon, Jr., was the lone 6A medalist, earning a silver medal in the boys 100-meter dash…. The 4A silver medalist list includes Silsbee’s 400-meter relay team of Calvin Tyler, Trey Lowe, Willie Lowe and Kalon Barnes, Hardin-Jefferson senior Wreagan Taylor in the 100-meter hurdles, and Hamshire-Fannett senior Jessica Nevils in the 300-meter hurdles.

BRONZE

Port Arthur Memorial’s boys finished third in the 5A 1,600-meter relay while Beaumont Central snagged the bronze medals, chasing Port Arthur in the 800-meter relay. Jaquan Francois, Gregory Laday, Xavier Hull and Ireon Brown ran for the Titans while the four senior Jaguars medalists were Deshon Moreaux, Patrick Thomas, Devin Broussard and Calen Ragsdale.
