Lady Bears, Bobcats wrap up solid golf season at regionals

HUNTSVILLE — Both the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears and Orangefield Lady Bobcats golf teams wrapped up an excellent season at the Class 4A Region III Golf Championships at Ravens Nest Tuesday.

The Lady Bears finished 10th overall as a team with a two-round score of 946 (465-481) while the Lady Bobcats were 12th with a 1,032 (518-514).

Leading the way for the Lady Bears were Theresa Beckett who was 39th with a 212 (107-105), Jessica McLain was 45th with a 223 (111-112), Marlee Bird was 57th with a 239 (113-126), Kaylee White was 75th with a 278 (134-144) and Emily Warner was 77th with a 280 (142-138).

Pacing the Lady Bobcats were Peytin Beebe, who was 57th with a 239 (121-118), Anna VanPelt was 63rd with a 245 (124-121), Brooklyn Goldsmith was 67th with a 261 (130-131) and Jayme Deutsch was 79th with a 287 (143-144)

Lorena’s Steelie Priest took top individual honors with a two-day total of 146 (73-73). Lampasas won the team title followed by Salado and Lufkin Hudson.

The Class 4A Region III Boys Golf Championships will take place Wednesday and Thursday at Ravens Nest.
