Lady Bears trump Silsbee to net second-place

SILSBEE — The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears clinched the second-place playoff spot out of District 22-4A with a big 7-3 road win over Silsbee at Lady Tiger Field Friday night.

The win pushed the Lady Bears to 8-2 in 22-4A play while Silsbee will be the third-place playoff team with a 7-3 final district mark.

Brianna Frenzel nabbed the win on the hill for LC-M. She scattered six hits while striking out nine and walking two. Frenzel was also 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and two runs scored.

Madison Murdock was 2-for-3 at the plate, drove in a run and scored twice. Morgan Weaver was 1-for-3 and had two nice sacrifices.Ashley Short was 1-for-3 and scored a pair of runs. Renna Toomey was 1-for-2 with a RBI. Olivia Leavings went 1-for-3 and plated three runs while Jaycie Perry went 2-for-4.
