LITTLE CYPRESS— The Orangefield Bobcats held on to defeat the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 4-3 in District 22-4A action at Gibbens Field Tuesday night.

Kent Michael put the Bobcats (14-6, 4-4) on the board in the top of the first inning with a two-out, two-run single to righfield. He scored Ryon Stubblefield, who had doubled, and Johnny Armstrong, who had walked.

Stubblefield also doubled in the second inning and Armstrong walked again. Brett Fregia loaded the bases with a walk. Mason Gonzales helped score two runs when his grounder to third turned into an error.

The Bears (11-12, 1-7) rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Trace LeBlanc reached on a walk and Taylor Gilbert singled. Jordan Alexander then came up with a two-out single to right to plate LeBlanc. Gilbert eventually scored when Seth Dronett’s grounder was misfielded at third.

The Bears trimmed the gap to 4-3 in the bottom half of the fifth.

Michael Lee reached after being hit by a pitch. Trumain Franklin, who had three hits for the Bears, got on with an infield single. The runners advanced on a passed ball and LeBlanc brought in a run with a grounder to first.

Stubblefield earned the win on the hill for the Bobcats while Armstrong nabbed the save.

The Bobcats will host West Orange-Stark Friday while the Bears travel to Silsbee.
