PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 5:20a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a multiple vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County.  The crash occurred in the eastbound traffic lanes near mile marker 869.

Initial reports indicate that a 2008 Dodge Charger was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 at an unsafe speed and lost control of the vehicle.  A Ford pickup truck changed lanes to avoid colliding with the Dodge Charger and was struck by a 2004 Hyundai passenger vehicle.  The Hyundai also struck a 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck that had stopped to avoid the collision.  A 2001 Honda passenger vehicle was slowing down for the collision when it was struck by a 1990 GMC pickup truck and pushed underneath the 2015 Chevrolet pickup truck.

The driver of the Dodge Charger, 24-year-old Jessica Curiel of Katy, Texas, received minor injuries and was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital.

The driver of the Honda, 33-year-old Edgar Castro of Louisiana, and his passenger were both transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with minor injuries.

All eastbound traffic lanes were closed for about an hour, but have since reopened.

This is an ongoing crash investigation and there are no further details to be released.
