Softball wrap: Lady Cards edge Buna

BRIDGE CITY – The Bridge City Lady Cardinals opened up their 2017 season with a 4-3 win over Buna on Monday.

The Lady Cardinals got off to a slow start offensively but made a big comeback in the seventh

inning to send the game into extra innings. Peyton Trapp got the win on the mound with the relief of Summer Black in the 7th inning.

Caitlin Denison went 2 for 3 at the plate, Carley Simon was 2 for 4, and Jalynne Burch was 3 for 4 with a walk off RBI to win the game.

The Lady Cardinals will travel to Beaumont next to compete in the LCM round robin tournament, February 16-18th.

WEST ORANGE — The West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs dropped their season opener to Jasper 14-1 atLady Mustang Field Monday.

Defensive standout for WO_S was left fielder Lexxi Holt with three fly balls caught.

The Lady Mustangs will be at the Hamshire-Fannett Tournament Thursday through Saturday.
