Power outages from Bridge City, Orangefield and West Orange left over 7,800 in the dark Thursday night.

A 138KV transmission line tripped caused others lines to trip leading to the outage.

“Our 138KV transmission line tripped in the Orange/Bridge City area, we do know there was a marsh fire in the area near the line,” Andrew Schonert, media relations for Entergy, said. “We do not know the damage to the 138 KV transmission line, but have ground and helicopter patrols going on at this time.  Once the 138KV line tripped other transmission lines tripped.”

The outage affected approximately 7,829 customers. All power was restored by Friday morning.

Entergy’s investigation will continue after the patrols and inspection of the equipment.
