As the nation watched the inauguration ceremony of our 45th President, Donald J. Trump, in Washington D.C. on Friday, Orange County Democrats have begun plans for 2020.

“We are going to be more visible,” Orange County Democrat Chair Deborah Mitchell said. “We want to see Democrats in elected positions.”

Mitchell said the local Democrat party is alive and strong.

Much of the work of the Texas Democratic Party is conducted by County Chair from running the primaries and organizing the precinct and county/senate district conventions to turning out Democratic voters in the general election.

“It begins at the local level,” Mitchell said. “People have to go out and vote, support the party financially and be accountable. Every vote matters, especially at the local level.”

Precinct Chairs in Bridge City and Vidor are needed as well.

“Precinct Chairs help in the immediate community,” Mitchell said.

Orange County Democrat Party will start hosting meetings in Vidor in February.

The meetings will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6, June 5 and Sept. 18 at the Vidor Community Center at Ray Gould Park.

Orange County Democratic Party meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, at Democratic headquarters located at 1011 10th and John in Orange. Agenda items include Where we stand and training.

“All Democrats are welcome to attend the meetings,” Mitchell said. “We want unification but representation at the next election.”
