Motorcycle Crash on US 96 Sends Vidor Man to the Hospital

PRESS RELEASE — At approximately 11:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a two vehicle crash on US 96 in Jasper County.  The crash occurred about two (2) miles south of Buna, Texas.

A Suzuki motorcycle was traveling northbound in the inside traffic lane on US 96 through an active construction zone.  For an unknown reason, the motorcyclist veered from the inside lane to the outside traffic lane and struck an unoccupied 2003 GMC flatbed pickup truck.  The driver was ejected from the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, 48-year-old David Holland of Vidor, was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.  Holland was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

This is an ongoing crash investigation and there are no further details to be released at this time.
