Brashear advanced to the competition by winning the West Orange – Stark school monologue competition held in September.

In the Austin competition, Brashear performed “Kate’s Monologue” from Taming of the Shrew and Sonnet 23 for a panel of four judges. Judges included representatives from the Austin branch of the Daughters of the American Revolution and two instructors from the Globe Theatre in London.
