LIBERTY — The Orangefield Bobcats are practicing hard this week during their bye week to prepare for their next District 12-4A Division II encounter.

The Bobcats (3-4, 0-1) will play host to the Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns (1-6, 0-1) Oct. 21 as they look to bounce back from a 42-27 road loss at undefeated Liberty (7-0, 1-0) last week.

The Bobcats fought hard against the Panthers but Liberty was able to pull away in the second half behind running back Alex Brown.

Brown finished with 195 yards on the ground and four touchdowns for the Panthers, three of them coming in the big second half.

Brown leads 12-4A in rushing as he has totaled 1,131 yards and 13 TDs on 144 carries.

The Bobcats piled up 276 yards of total offense while the Panthers put together 318.

Orangefield running back Christopher McGee had a nice outing against the Panthers as he rushed for 169 yards on 16 carries and caught a TD pass from quarterback Caleb Kress that went for 56 yards. McGee scored on runs of 16 and nine yards. He now has 585 yards and seven TDs on 72 carries for the season.

Fellow back Wesley Frillou added a eight-yard TD run in the second half.

Liberty also received touchdown passes from Tyris Williams and JJ Slack.
