Special to The Leader

Carolyn Martinez, the Founder of the Author Bash, spoke at the Guild on September 13, 2016 and invited the Guild to participate at the “Author Bash” in Beaumont, on November 5, benefiting the Humane Society.

This is the first year for this annual event so make plans to come by and support all the local authors and artist at 9505 College Street in Beaumont. Martinez decided there isn’t an outlet for local creative people, so she came up with the idea to promote Poets, Painters, Authors, etc. to allow them to sell their books/paintings and have a great time doing it.

The Children’s Museum will be doing science projects and there will be food, moonwalks, pet adoption, and much more.   It is a free event so mark your calendars. Martinez also shared with the Guild, tips on a publishing company she found to be easy and beneficial.

With this publisher, after completing your book, you can pay a minimum fee of $60 and have your book on every web page thru book stores all over the country and beyond. The Guild also decided to participate in a panel at Lamar University in November.

We will have 4 or 5 authors from the Guild speaking on different topics from how to get your book printed to their personal story of their book. The Guild is a free membership and we meet the second Tuesday of each month at the Brown Hearing Center in Orange, at 105 Camellia. Please come by and join us between 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. For any additional questions please call 409 988-2588 or email Karen.stevens@coldwellbanker.com
