The Vidor Public Library held a program hosted by the Friends of the Library on Thursday, April 14, 2016. Guest Storyteller Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo with Young Audiences of Southeast Texas delighted the group with folk tales and myths from Asia: Korea, Japan, China, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, and other cultures. Robert weaves a variety of traditional tales with music and theatre, often embellishing the plots with bronze gongs, bamboo rattles flutes and drums, or bringing characters to life with animated facial gestures. His use of timing, elements of surprise, and audience participation create a joyful rapport that draws youngsters and parents alike into an exploration of Asian culture. Robert is the 1999 National Young Audiences Artist of the Year.
