Laws of Life Winners Orangefield Jr. High 2016

Orangefield Junior High students Gracie Donnaud, 7th grader, and Lucas Mohan, 6th grader,were finalists at the Better Business Bureau’s 5th Annual Laws of Life Awards Banquet at the Downtown Event Centre in Beaumont. Lucas and Gracie’s essays were two of the fifteen finalists out of over 3,300 submissions from Southeast Texas schools.  Gracie’s essay , “Lessons to Live By”, earned third place overall.  In addition, Gracie and her teacher, Heggie Coulter, each received $100. Mohan’s essay, “Don’t Give Up”, earned third place in the sixth grade division. Lucas and his teacher, Danielle Sheppard, each received $50. Both students also received a $650 scholarship, gift baskets, t-shirts, and gift cards from several BBB businesses.

The Southeast Texas BBB Laws of Life Essay Contest is a competition for winning character essays submitted from participating middle schools in the Southeast Texas service area. The BBB in Southeast Texas sponsors this endeavor to recognize the achievements of these exceptional youth who participate in local contests and to encourage schools and communities in Texas to engage in this enriching and valuable experience.
