INVISTA’s site in Orange, Texas, recently donated $8,000 to the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center to continue sponsorship of the Discovery Theater and the February community Trash-Off.

This is the fifth year INVISTA has sponsored the Discovery Theater, a multipurpose building and the first stop for visitors new to Shangri La. A video screening orients visitors with the history of Shangri La and the flora and fauna present in the gardens.

“The Discovery Theater boasts a sustainable design and allows visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history of the Shangri La gardens,” said Rick Lewandowski, Director of Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. “We are grateful to INVISTA for its sponsorship of the Discovery Theater and continuing support for programs that enrich the Orange community.”

In addition, INVISTA sponsored the Trash-Off, a Shangri-La community event to clean up trash from Orange and the surrounding communities. This year’s Trash-Off included more than 420 volunteers working together to remove an estimated 12 tons – or 24,000 pounds – of trash from the Orange community.

“Shangri La Botanical Gardens is a true paradise located in the heart of our community,” said INVISTA site manager Doug Speers. “With its diverse flora and fauna and dedicated staff, Shangri La educates and enriches its many visitors and patrons. INVISTA is proud to be a corporate sponsor of Shangri La and its sustainability programs. We sincerely thank the many volunteers and local businesses that helped make this year’s Trash-Off a success.”
