ORANGE — All Heart 4-H group, while learning the importance of helping one’s community, left scarves, some with hats, some with gloves, along major roads in the area on Friday.

All Heart 4-H is a homeschool group.

“We discussed outreach ideas during a meeting when the idea was suggested,” Sarah Screws said.

Each family in the organization gathered hats and scarves for the project.

Some handmade while others store bought, but each coming from the heart.

“I think it is an awesome idea,” Haleigh Screws, 9, said. “It is good to help others when they are freezing outside.”

Screws said she knows how quickly one can become cold after attempting to play outside last week in cooler temperatures.

“It is not so fun playing outside when it is cold,” Screws said.

Children in the group range from age 4 -14 with a total of 15 members.

Club Manager Christina Vanover said the 4-H group is brand new.

“The 4-H Pledge in essence is why we wanted to start a group,” Vanover said. “We do not concentrate on one area like some other groups. We work on robotics, aerospace, leadership and community as well.”

The 4-H Pledge:

I pledge my head to clearer thinking,

my heart to greater loyalty,

my hands to larger service, and

my health to better living,

for my club, my community, my country and my world.
