By Weldon Peveto

In 1996, you, the voters of Precinct Four, Orange County, honored my family and I, by electing me as your Constable. My family and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for allowing me to serve you for the past 19 years. This time has been the most fulfilling and rewarding years of my life. When I took office on January 1, 1997, I vowed to you that I would run my office efficiently with honesty, integrity and to be available to you, the citizens. I sincerely feel that I have upheld that pledge.

A Constable’s first and primary duty is to serve the citizens and the Justice Court, which I have proudly done. I have worked closely with all law enforcement agencies in and around Orange County. In the past 19 years my deputies and I have served over 8,400 civil papers, including citations, evictions, writs, subpoenas, child support papers and Peace Bonds, as well as serving the court as bailiff. My deputies and I have also cleared over 6,000, traffic, truancy and hot check warrants, returning restitutions to our merchants. From this work I have collected more fines, fees and restitutions than any other Constable in Orange County history. I take great pride in running my office cost productive and under budget to save you the tax payer.

Some of the work that I am most proud of is working closely with the Vidor Independent School District by escorting the band and sports teams to and from their competitions. I also assist the VISD Police Department in mentoring our students in such classes as BULLYING, DWI and DRUG awareness and my CHOICES program. For the past 19 years my deputies and I have donated hundreds of hours assisting the VISD with traffic control in the school zones.   This is done at no cost to you the tax payers.

In 2012 my deputies and I worked an extensive narcotics operation on several stores that were selling a drug known as “Bath Salts” over their counters to anyone who asked for them, including children.  The operation concluded with 6 arrests, including the owner of the stores. The store owner pled guilty and received a ten year probated sentence.   A total 663 units of “Bath Salts” valued at over $20,000.00 were seized and taken off the street. From this case the Drug Enforcement Administration and Houston Narcotics were able to take down a warehouse in Houston, seizing over one million dollars’ worth of “Bath Salts”.

My civic duties consist of being a past member the Vidor Chamber of Commerce and serving on its Board of Directors for 10 years. I am also a member of the Vidor Lion’s Club and the Conn Park Development Board.   Being a member of these civic organizations is just one way that I can give a little back to a city that has been so good to me and my family.

I have been married to Diane Allison Peveto for the past 33 years. We have three children, Heather, age 40, Daniel age 30, a Tech Sergeant in the United States Air Force and Anna, age 24, is also Staff Sgt. And a proud member of the United States Air Force. I am also proud to have 7 grandchildren. We are all active members of the Vidor Church of Christ.

My family and I respectfully ask for your vote in the March 2016, Republican Primary.
