MCT Credit Union Branches located in Nederland, Port Neches, Bridge City, Orange and Lumberton teamed up with members to raise $3,829 during the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s summer camp mobile program. The Nederland Branch was the top selling Branch, raising $1,319.   The MDA summer camp mobile program helps save and improve the lives of kids fighting muscular dystrophy and related life-threatening diseases that limit muscle strength and mobility.

“The MDA Summer Camp Mobile Program is a simple and effective way for MCT Credit Union employees and members to make a real difference in the lives of kids and adults living with debilitating neuromuscular diseases right here in our local communities,” said Executive Director Anna Papoutsis, “We’re grateful to everyone who opened their hearts and made a donation to MDA this September. It is with the generosity of the Southeast Texas community that we are giving some amazing kids the chance to experience the independence of being away from home in an environment where barriers don’t exist at MDA summer camp.”

For the month of September, MCT Credit Union branches participated in the nationwide campaign in which customers and associates bought and sold $1 and $5 pin-up mobiles to help send local children affected by neuromuscular diseases to a week where anything is possible at MDA summer camp at Camp For All in Burton, Texas – all at no cost to their families.

During the program, branches creatively displayed the purchased mobiles, visually declaring steadfast support to help children affected by muscle disease get stronger and live longer.

In addition to giving kids with muscle disease a week of awesome adventures, dollars raised from the mobile program help MDA push science to its limits in the search for cutting-edge treatments and cures, and support MDA’s life-enhancing programs such as its state-of-the-art clinics, including the MDA Clinic at the Methodist Neurological Institute and Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
