ORANGE — Community Christian School PTO is making changes to the 12 annual Holiday Shopping Extravaganza by adding a Holiday Pet Pageant to help raise funds for technology equipment as well as a multi purpose building.

“This will be our first animal pageant,” Kellie Riley, parent volunteer said. “We will have best pet costume, best pet and parent costume and best pet trick.”

Riley said most of the funds raised from the event would help with a new gym for the school as well as a multi-purpose building.

“The building will be for the whole area to use, not just the school,” Riley said.

The event will also hold an art auction featuring Zentangle and Kandinsky Circles.

Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns according to www.zentangle.com

Kandinsky was an influential Russian painter and art theorist. He is credited with painting one of the first purely abstract works.

Along with vendors, a silent auction will feature items such as a beach house rental, hunting and fishing trips.

“This is a great way to kick start the holidays,” Riley said.

Sallie Haynes, science teacher, teaches seventh thru 10th grades.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the school to meet the public and for families together and have a great time,” Haynes said.

Community Christian School PTO Holiday Shopping Extravaganza is 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3400 MLK Drive in Orange.
