Orange Police Department officers responded to a report of a disturbance on Tuesday afternoon near the area referred to as Rebeck’s Crossing.

A male was riding his bicycle near 16^th Street and West Church when four – five males, between the ages of 19-24, began chasing him on foot according to a police report.

The victims mother, nearby, witnessed the pursuit and proceeded to follow, with an unidentified male, by vehicle.

According to witness statements, when the unidentified male fired a pistol in the air when it appeared the four – five males were about to assault the male on the bicycle.

After the gun was fired, the males ran back across the tracks.

The unidentified male gave the officer on scene permission to inspect the weapon.

The weapon and spent casing, found near the location of the incident, were taken as evidence.
