Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of this beloved classic children’s book, Adventure Theatre MTC performs a fantastic new Broadway style musical based on the illustrations by author, Esphyr Slobodkina.  “Caps! Caps for sale! Fifty cents a cap!” The cap peddler, Pezzo, wears a huge stack of caps, balanced carefully on top of his head.  Brown caps, blue caps, gray caps, and red caps. When no one buys a cap, he takes a nap under a shady tree.  But, when he wakes up, the caps are gone!  Where could his caps have disappeared to? Was it bears, pirates, one thousand thieves or a band of merry mischievous monkeys?  How will he ever get them back?

Adventure Theatre MTC is based in Maryland and is committed to cultivating new generations of artists and life-long audiences by creating memorable theatrical productions and experiences.  The cast of six (6) Washington, DC based professional actors will amaze you while playing eleven (11) roles, including a band of monkeys and a new character based on the author of the book and her cat, Scaramouche. The musical score, by Carnegie Mellon Graduate, Bill Yanesh, will have you singing and dancing. Michael J. Bobbitt (Playwright – Three Little Birds), co-writes the musical with Ann Marie Mulhearn Sayer, lifelong friend of Esphyr Slobodkina. Director, Patrick Pearson, of the world famous Ford’s Theatre, leads a team of award winning DC area designers, to bring you the story of the Peddler and his funny Monkey friends to life.

This show is recommended for students grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
