Orange County Commissioners Court accepted a grant for a radio tower.

The $1.4 million project will be funded through grants with the matching dollars coming from Department of Public Safety (DPS) and 9-1-1 Services, according to Orange County Emergency Management Coordinator Ryan Peabody.

“With the matching grant funds coming from DPS and 9-1-1 Services, there is no cost to Orange County for this project,” Peabody said.

The radio tower will help furnish radio signals for first responders in an area in Vidor currently out of range of current radio towers.
